District Nurses
Our District Nurses provide nursing services to housebound patients. They can assess needs, carry out appropriate nursing care, and give information and counselling. They can be contacted on the surgery number.
Health Visitors/Public Health
Our Health Visitors are able to advise on all aspects of healthy living and health promotion. Their primary role in the past has been with families with children, but this in now expanding to encompass a much wider role, including smoking cessation clinics. Health Visitors can be contacted via their office at the Medical Centre, or on their main number 01271 341500.
School Nurse/Public Health
Our School Nurse visits Braunton Academy, Caen, Kingsacre and Southmead Primary Schools. Her role is to monitor health needs of students and to liaise with parents and school staff and refer to other agencies as appropriate. When necessary she can be contacted via the Health Visitors office at the Medical Centre or on the central Ilfracombe number 01271 879950.
Community Midwives
Our midwives undertake health care, advice and support before, during and after pregnancy. They can be contacted via the Medical Centre.
Chiropodist
A Chiropodist visits the Medical Centre regularly. If you feel you need NHS chiropody, please discuss at reception.
Hospice Nurse
A Hospice Nurse is attached to our surgery. If you need more information regarding this service please discuss it with a doctor, or contact the North Devon Hospice directly on 344248.

First Contact Physiotherapy
We have an NHS physiotherapist treating patients at the practice. When this service is not available you will be treated at Barnstaple or Ilfracombe. If you require this service you can enquire at reception to book directly if appropriate.
Orthoptist
Your optician, doctor or eye specialist may at times refer you to an orthoptist. We have facilities for a visiting orthoptist to treat our patients within the practice.
Audiology
We have facilities for an audiologist to visit the practice, and when appropriate they can arrange for you to be seen here.
